For Patrick Chung, Super Bowl 52 Is A Chance To Reflect
Former Oregon Safety Patrick Chung has a unique perspective in Super Bowl 52 having played for both Philadelphia and New England in his career.
Chung was a fan favorite at the University of Oregon. In 2013 and played in ten games for the Eagles that season. In his Rookie Year at the next level, the team made it to the Playoffs but lost at home against the New Orleans Saints. Philadelphia’s Defense that season was not vaunted by any means. They gave up more scores on the outside than any other team in the NFL. Chung was part of the youth movement on Defense that did not catch on right away and paid the price.
Experience at any level can help you get better but for some, it takes longer than others. Patrick Chung started his NFL Career with New England. He was drafted by the Patriots in 2009, left for Philly, and returned in 2014. Since then his approach to the game and his talent on the field has been on display, helping New England to numerous appearances in the postseason.
Now, Chung faces his former team. While the faces and schemes on both sides of the ball may be different than several seasons ago, Chung remained rather tight-lipped about his time in Philadelphia after signing a three-year deal and playing just one season in the City of Brotherly Love.
The experience with the New England Patriots may just put Chung in the position for a key play or two in Super Bowl 52 against his former team. The question is, will he make the play. Chances are he will.
