The Oregon Women’s Basketball team will break a three-way tie on Friday night visiting the Washington Huskies.

The Oregon Ducks had a chance to extend their lead in the Pac-12 Standings with a win over Stanford over the weekend but fell short at home. It was their first home loss of the season at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon fell to 9th in the National Standings and will look to get back to their winning ways on the road vs the Washington schools this weekend.

In the Pac-12 Standings, the Washington Huskies are last with a 7-15 mark and just one Pac-12 win. The Ducks beat Washington 93-84 on New Year’s Eve. Despite being short-handed with Lexi Bando out with a leg injury, Oregon enters the weekend with momentum.

For the Washington Huskies, experience in big games has let them down. They lost by just two points to Arizona over the weekend. Sophomore Amber Melgoza has 20 games this season in double figures and is the player to watch for Washington. She scored 23 points against the Ducks in December, the most by a Washington Player. Over the last 15 games, she is averaging 19 points per game.

The Oregon Ducks had 15 turnovers against Stanford that the Cardinal turned into 21 points. Oregon has played well, for the most part, this season not allowing adversity to get to them, but the game against the Cardinal was a heartbreaker at home that allowed UCLA and Stanford to tie them at the top of the Pac-12 Conference.

Sabrina Ionescu finished in double figures but was just 6 for 14 from the floor. Oregon shot just 25 percent in the 4th Quarter as Stanford finished the game on an 11-0 run. Better Defense will be the key against Washington.
