Oregon Ducks Will Be High On Emotion For Senior Night vs UCLA Bruins
The Oregon Ducks and UCLA Bruins play a Top Ten Matchup at Matthew Knight Arena on Monday Night.
Oregon faces UCLA in a Play For Kay game which is also Senior Night for the Ducks. Oregon will honor Eugene Local Lexi Bando and Justine Hall. With The Bruins losing at Oregon State over the weekend and Cal sending Stanford to a loss the game has a little less meaning without a first-place tie but is still a key contest for the Ducks.
An Oregon win gives them a slight advantage with two regular-season games left. The Ducks had 26 turnovers on Friday against USC and found a way to win in Overtime vs the Trojans. As it stands, both Oregon and UCLA are Top 10 in the RPI with the Ducks at 9 and the Bruins at 10 respectively. An Oregon win would likely give Oregon a bump in the National Standings with UCLA ranked 7th.
UCLA Senior Jordin Canada is the player to watch. She has had more than one memorable game in her career against Oregon with the matchup on Monday having the potential to be the biggest. Canada has 1800 Points and 700 Assists in her career as a Bruin. Monique Billings has also put up impressive numbers with 1500 points and 1000 rebounds for her career.
The Oregon Ducks have two players that recently reached the 1000 point career mark. Both Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard are just Sophomores. Even more impressive Hebard has hit 30 straight field goals setting a new NCAA Record. Lexi Bando has been the three-point weapon of choice in her time at Oregon with her biggest shot on Friday night
With under a minute remaining, Bando threw the ball up, it bounced off the rim, hit the top of the basket and fell back into the bucket. UCLA and Oregon both have something to play for and I expect the game will be one of the best this season at Matthew Knight Arena.
