Former Washington Coach Lorenzo Romar Will Lead Arizona vs Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks will play against former Washington Coach Lorenzo Romar along with DeAndre Ayton who will be available for the Arizona Wildcats.
Arizona Wildcats Head Coach Sean Miller will not coach on Saturday night against the Oregon Ducks. On Friday night it was reported that he was heard on a wiretap discussing payment for a recruit and the situation has blown up in less than 24 hours since.
It could not have come for a worse time for Arizona, on the cusp of a Pac-12 Title with a win in Eugene on Saturday night.
The game will be Nationally Televised on ESPN with one of their best crews that include Dave Pasche and everyone’s friend or foe, Bill Walton. I will be interested in his perspective on Sean Miller.
Perhaps the bigger question for tonight – who WILL coach for Arizona? The answer is a Coach known to Oregon Fans. However, he may also be under the watchful eye of the NCAA from his last year with the Washington Huskies. Lorenzo Romar spent fifteen seasons with Washington, but nearly every potential possibility, including Romar, has been involved either in scandal or been in trouble with the NCAA.
Lorenzo Romar will coach in Miller’s place and the player that is named in the FBI Probe, DeAndre Ayton is also expected to play in the game.
Lorenzo Romar knows the Oregon Ducks well. He coached against them as recent as last year. Romar was Head Coach for the Washington Huskies Men’s Basketball team from 2002-2017. He is in his first season with Arizona as Assistant Head Coach. Romar has also been in the position of winning Pac-12 Championships, getting three with Washington.
Regardless of the storyline, the game tonight should not be about Arizona. It should be about the game. The Oregon Ducks can make some headway in the Pac-12 entering what appears to be a wide open Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas..
