Oregon Ducks Claim Pac-12 Regular Season Title With Win At Arizona
The Oregon Ducks claimed their first Pac-12 Regular Season Title since 2000 win a win over Arizona on Sunday.
Four players scored in double figures for the Ducks. Ruthy Hebard led the way with 24 points and 9 rebounds. She was 8 for 13 from the floor in the 74-61 win that Oregon had to fight for. The Oregon Defense stepped up in the final minutes limiting Arizona to 2 for 11 shooting to finish the game.
With the win, Oregon celebrates their first outright Pac-12 Regular Season Title since the 1999-2000 season. The win also gives Oregon the #1 Seed in the Pac-12 Tournament that begins later this week in Seattle, Washington.
Against Arizona, the Oregon Ducks led for thirty-nine minutes and fifty-five seconds of the game. Despite 11 turnovers, Kelly Graves saw efficiency with 19 assists and 26 points in the paint. The Ducks outrebounded the Wildcats 38 to 25 for the game and for the season, Oregon has a total of four road sweeps that include 8 Pac-12 teams.
The Oregon Ducks split the regular season series with the Oregon State Beavers losing on the road, but winning at home.
With the wins this weekend, the Oregon Ducks moved up to 6th in the National Polls and are heavy favorites to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament at Matthew Knight Arena as a likely 2 seed. All eyes will be on the Conference Tournaments around the country this week with UConn the likely overall #1 with an undefeated season and Notre Dame not far behind.
