Oregon Ducks Find Offense In 10-4 Win vs Florida Atlantic
Oregon Ducks Baseball used big offensive innings vs Florida Atlantic Monday en route to a 10-4 win.
Head Coach George Horton watched his team win the series opener 2-1 on Friday night with Cole Stringer picking up the victory with six strikeouts. Oregon split over the weekend losing on Saturday but winning Sunday.
Oregon Starter Cullen Kafka had a rough start giving up two FAU Runs in the first inning before settling down. Oregon was held to just one hit by Kyle Kasser through the first three innings. Jakob Golfarb started the home half of the fifth inning with a shot between first and second for a single.
Three batters later Ryan Soderman singled up the middle scoring Goldfarb and Taylor Travess tying the game at 2. Kyle Kasser hit into what should have been a double play, but an error on FAU Shortstop Tyler Frank allowed Ryan Soderman to score for a 3-2 Oregon lead. By the end of the inning, Oregon put of five runs off of four hits and took a 5-2 lead on FAU.
Cullen Kafka was pulled after 5 1/3 innings with a 5-2 lead. He gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, and had 3 strikeouts.
The Oregon Ducks added three insurance runs in the seventh and one in the eight taking a 10-4 lead. That was all the Ducks would need. It was a successful weekend taking three of four games from Florida Atlantic.
Despite not being ranked Head Coach George Horton scheduled the early part of the season well. Oregon sits 12th in RPI a month into the season with key wins over Las Vegas and FAU. It also helps that Las Vegas is 11-1 on the season.
