Oregon Ducks Host Four Teams For Opening Weekend

The Oregon Ducks open a six-game series and the Oregon Invitational starting on Thursday at Jane Sanders Stadium.

It is also the home-opening weekend for Ducks Softball. Following the weekend series, Oregon enters Pac-12 competition next weekend hosting the UCLA Bruins.

On the season, the Oregon Ducks are 28-4, all on the road. Oregon faced Top 25 talent, going 1-1 against Florida State but losing close games opponents including Tennessee and Texas A&M. Entering the season, Head Coach Mike White knew that small ball could be a concern but the most recent slump includes the bulk of the Oregon Lineup.

After hot starts, Gwen Svekis and DJ Sanders have shown they can be effective in clutch situations. Oregon has been one of the best two-out hitting teams in the country this season and should be able to handle the teams visiting Jane Sanders Stadium this weekend.

The Oregon Ducks will host sixteen games over the four day Tournament with Weber State(9-11), Montana(5-14), Bryant(5-4) and the team they face Thursday in Toledo(10-7). Oregon will play six games over the weekend.

Oregon has five players hitting better than .300 and Leadoff Hitter Alexis Mack leading the team batting .435 and slugging .507. The Ducks are hitting .311 as a team entering the weekend.

It was a rough last outing for Oregon Pitcher Megan Kleist who threw a no-hitter in a 2-1 loss to Florida State. The Ducks Defensive Infield struggled allowing two runs late in the game resulting in the third loss of the season for Kleist who has a 0.86 Earned Run Average.
