Former Oregon Ducks Running Back Jonathan Stewart is looking for a new home after being released last week by the Carolina Panthers.

One team that may have an interest is the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle is shedding players on Defense but could be looking for a key addition on Offense and former Oregon Running Back Jonathan Stewart may fit well into an Offense that struggled on the ground last season. The issue with Stewart may be his age and his durability.

Stewart had one of the best Offensive Lines in front of him last season and struggled in Carolina. He rushed for 680 yards and put up 3.4 yards per carry. Seattle had concerns at Running Back using the ‘committee’ style on Offense. Of the five players who saw the field, none averaged more than 240 yards for the entire season.

While Jonathan Stewart could add some experience to the Running Backs Group already in Seattle, the team mentality did not work so well, but a player like Stewart could change that. If the Seahawks enter 2018 with Stewart’s experience and use a few NFL Draft picks on the position, Seattle could turn around their ground woes quickly in the upcoming season.

Jonathan Stewart has spent all ten seasons in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. He is now 30 years old, soon to be 31. Running Backs have not aged well in the National Football League. It is rare that a Running Back still finds success past 30 that they did when they were just entering the League.

Stewart could easily take over the lead role in Seattle. It would be a good reset for both him and the team after the struggles of 2017 for both.
