Will Oregon Ducks Land In The NIT Or The NCAA Tournament?
Did the Oregon Ducks do enough to Dance into March Madness?
The Oregon Ducks received praise from Head Coach Dana Altman following their loss to USC, being compared to the team from two seasons ago on the cusp and making it to the Final Four the following season. It is clear that the Senior Leadership of Elijah Brown and MiKyle McIntosh put the team on their shoulders this week in the Pac-12 Tournament.
Despite having 22 wins on the season, I think the best thing for this team is the NIT. For one, it means a home game or two for an Oregon team that struggled.
Freshman have not played well on the road this season. If you need an example look at Troy Brown. His numbers in the Pac-12 Tournament speak volumes. The Ducks are better at home this season.
Games against Arizona and Arizona State on the final weekend very well may have helped push Oregon onto the bubble for an NCAA Tournament bid. You can look at all the Bracketologists you want, but after watching the team this season, with all the ups and downs along with the struggles and adversity overcome, they would go farther in the NIT then landing in a Play-In Game and getting Duke in the 2nd Round.
For the Oregon Ducks to find postseason success, Paul White needs to produce on Offense. The team needs to stay out of foul trouble to the best of their ability and the Ducks will need a third player to step up and lead the way in points, assists, and rebounds. Oregon has found success when they have outrebounded opponents this season and that may very well be the key.
