The Oregon Ducks(12-4, 0-0 Pac-12) travel to Arizona State(8-9, 0-0 Pac-12) to open Conference play and a three-game series.

Head Coach George Horton has been able to put together a young competitive team that is showing a lot of promise early in the 2018 season. The Oregon Ducks have some important victories early and enter Pac-12 Conference play with a 10-2 record at PK Park. Successful teams need to win their home games and so far, the Ducks have come through in Non-Conference play.

Relief Pitcher Parker Kelly is a big reason why. He is 4-0 on the season and coming off Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors. The Ducks are coming off an early week win over Gonzaga. Kenyon Yovan picked up his fifth save of the season in a 6-3 comeback. The Ducks manufactured runs with three doubles in the seventh inning putting up six runs.

The Oregon Ducks Lineup this season is loaded with players who can hit. Last season, Oregon looked to two or three players in key spots. In 2018 the team has a different approach. Jakob Goldfarb leads four players batting over .300 and the Ducks hit the road batting .268 as a team. Goldfarb and Spencer Steer are tied with 14 RBI’s each.

From the mound, Matt Mercer is 2-1 with 23 strikeouts. Parker Kelly leads the team in wins from the bullpen giving up just 5 hits with 23 strikeouts. As a team, the Pitching Staff is holding opponents to a team average of .233.

Arizona State enters the series with a three-game losing streak. Gage Canning is the Player to Watch batting .457 with six stolen bases. He also leads the Sun Devils with 32 hits. From the mound, Eli Lingos leads the team with a 2-1 record. He’s given up 25 hits in 24 innings. Arizona State’s Team ERA is above 4.

The Oregon Ducks and Arizona State Sun Devils open their three-game series on Friday at 6:30 pm PT. Game two is set for Saturday at 6:30 pm PT and the Sunday Series finale is slated for 12:30 pm PT.
