Sabrina Ionescu Scores Triple-Double In Win Over Seattle

Sabrina Ionescu started her second NCAA Tournament with a triple-double and an 88-45 win over Seattle.

The Oregon Ducks opened the 2018 Women’s NCAA Tournament against Seattle and Sabrina Ionescu had the first points for the Ducks. Oregon had back to back steals, the second was a score by Maite Cazorla. It was 6-0 Oregon forcing a Seattle Timeout with 7:21 left in the first quarter.

The First Quarter was all Oregon. Sabrina Ionescu had 10 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and finished the last four minutes as the only Starter on the floor. The Ducks shot 56 percent for the quarter and led Seattle 25-6. Oregon turned six Seattle turnovers into 7 points and had 5 steals in the first 10 minutes.

Ionescu saw limited time in the second quarter. She added 4 points as she inched closer to a double double or better. Satou Sabally struggled in the first half. The Freshman had 2 points and was 1 for 4 from the floor.

The Oregon Ducks kept the pace in the third quarter scoring 22 points. Sabrina Ionescu needed a rebound for her first triple-double in the NCAA Tournament with 10 minutes remaining. Oregon added to their lead headed to the 4th Quarter, 70-32.

With just over 8 minutes left in the game, Sabrina Ionescu earned her tenth career triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Oti Gildon off the bench was 7 for 8 from the floor with 16 points and 6 rebounds as five Oregon players scored in double figures vs Seattle. The Ducks Perimeter Defense held Seattle to 1 for 9 shooting from three-point range for the game.

Oregon will face Minnesota on Saturday. The Golden Gophers bring the 3rd ranked Offense putting up 85 points per game. The Ducks will look to use a solid Defensive Effort to slow down a young and hungry 10 seed.
