Colorado Rockies Starter Tyler Anderson gave up 7 runs in his first start of 2018 in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The schedule was not kind to start the season for the Colorado Rockies. The team faced Arizona on the road – a place where their Playoff hopes died last season. Last season he went 6-6 after appearing in 15 games. He posted a 4.81 Earned Run Average. Entering his third season with the Rockies he was tabbed as the number two starter coming out of Spring Training.

Both Tyler Anderson and Arizona Starter Robbie Ray both gave up multiple runs. Ray allowed six earned runs of his own. The Colorado Offense found a way to get on base to make a game of it, losing 9-8. The Rockies are still looking for their first win of the season.

Anderson threw 2 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs on 5 hits. He gave up four Arizona walks and struck out just three Diamondbacks in his season debut.

For Arizona, Nick Ahmed helped Arizona to five runs in the first two innings which included a home run. He finished the game with 5 RBIs. For the Diamondbacks, Robbie Ray picked up the win despite his high walk rate.

The highlight for Colorado was Charlie Blackmon. His first hit of the season with two on and one out in the fourth was a home run that tied the game at 7. Colorado showed fight in a game that got out of hand early and that was commendable.
