Oregon Ducks Fall To Portland In Extra Innings

The Oregon Ducks battled against Portland on Monday night, falling in extra innings.

Head Coach George Horton has had plenty of teachable moments this season. Monday was another opportunity for his team to get better. While the Ducks found their Offense early with three runs in the first three innings, Portland put up six runs in the same three frames. Oregon Ducks Pitcher Cullen Kafka gave up 8 hits and 6 runs throwing just 2 1/3 innings.

The Portland Pilots had 15 hits and left 11 on base in the game. Kenyon Yovan was the hero in regulation hitting a home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extra innings. Yovan has been leaned on as a Starter over the last three weeks and is 3-0. His most recent win was last weekend against Washington State.

Oregon put up eight hits against Portland with Daniel Patzlaff leading the way going 2 for 5 with an RBI. The Oregon Ducks has 6 pitchers put in work in the single midweek game with the Pilots. Ryne Nelson started the game on the mound and took the loss. He also contributed on Offense with a run in the 9-7 defeat.

Kyle Kasser led the Oregon Ducks at the plate. He went 1 for 6 with an RBI had two infield assists and did not strikeout.

The Oregon Ducks have their biggest series of the season on back to back weekends starting with a road trip to take on the Washington Huskies in a three-game series starting on Friday. Oregon then travels to Corvallis to take on Oregon State.
