Oregon Ducks Offense Needs To Find Momentum
The Oregon Ducks(19-5, 6-9 Pac-12) need to find their Offense this week at Oregon State.
Despite nine Pac-12 Conference losses, the Oregon Ducks are in the middle of the Conference standings. Head Coach George Horton has seen more good things than bad from his team this season. The pitching staff with an influx of new arms has shown improvement over last year. While the Oregon Offense has had its struggles, the team is sitting above the .500 mark overall.
Last weekend the Oregon Ducks won one of three games over Washington on the road. They hoped for a better result. The first loss came on Friday. Starter Matt Mercer gave up two early runs to the Huskies but had another quality start. Gabe Matthews went 3 for 3 with a home run, but Washington held on for a 2-1 win.
The final two games of the series were played on Sunday as a doubleheader due to weather. Oregon came out with a Game 2 win in extra innings. It was pitching that made the difference. Kenyon Yovan threw 7 1/3 innings with 7 strikeouts and Ryne Nelson picked up the win in the 13 inning 6-4 win. In the final game of the series, it was Washington Pitching that took care of business.
The Huskies used two pitchers to shut out Oregon to take the series. Washington won 4-0 in Game 3. Starter Jordan Jones threw 5 1/3 innings for the win. For Oregon Kolby Somers had a career-high 7 strikeouts in his 4 1/3 innings. He also allowed no walks.
