Oregon Ducks Megan Kleist Dominant vs Oklahoma Sooners
The Oregon Ducks were dominant in ending the Oklahoma Sooners win streak on Thursday afternoon with a 5-0 victory.
At the end of the season, Thursday could very well mark the turning point for Oregon Ducks Softball. The Ducks have played on the biggest stage on a regular basis in Mike White’s time as Head Coach. Oregon played to their strengths against the Oklahoma Sooners and came out with one of the biggest non-conference wins in Program History.
Oklahoma came to Eugene with just two losses on the season and a 30 game winning streak that came to an end. Megan Kleist put on a display throwing a complete game facing the minimum number of hitters through seven innings. Following the one hit, she forced an inning-ending double play. The Sooners entered the game averaging just over 7 runs per game this season.
Oklahoma Starter Paige Parker lasted just three innings. DJ Sanders hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first putting the Ducks up 2-0. That was all the support that Kleist needed. The Ducks added three more runs including a solo home run from Mary Iakopo.
Scheduling non-conference opponents to play at Jane Sanders Stadium has worked out well for Head Coach Mike White. The Ducks have been dominant against the top teams in the country boasting a 9-1 mark at The Jane.
