Oregon Baseball: Ducks Drop Three-Game Series At Oregon State
The Oregon Ducks were outscored 18-7 losing three straight games to the Oregon State Beavers in Corvallis.
It has reached that point in the season where wins will be critical for a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament. The Oregon Ducks, unfortunately, are not where they need to be. Oregon saw two quality starts by Pitchers against Oregon State with Matt Mercer and Kenyon Yovan throwing winnable games on Thursday and Friday, but the Oregon Offense was not able to come through.
The Saturday Series finale saw Oregon State jump out to a 9-0 led in the first three innings. Oregon never really found their groove at the plate losing 12-5 in the end. Oregon starter Kobly Somers(1-6) lasted just 2 2/3 innings giving up six runs off ten Oregon State hits. The Beavers dominated the series.
Oregon State had 19 hits on Saturday alone and put up 32 hits in the three-game series against Oregon Pitching.
With three straight losses, the Oregon Ducks are now 6-12 in Pac-12 play. Oregon State improved to 10-5 in Conference play with the sweep of Oregon.
The Oregon Ducks have an opportunity to make up ground with games ahead against Arizona, USC, UCLA, and UC Irvine, but 19-8 overall is likely not where they thought they would be at this point in the regular season.
Oregon heads to Portland with a single game on Wednesday before hosting the USC Trojans with three games at PK Park next weekend. The USC Trojans enter the series with a one-game Pac-12 lead over the Oregon Ducks at 6-11.
