The Oregon Ducks had three players selected in the National Pro Fastpitch College Draft.
There are five National Fastpitch teams that participated in the 2nd Annual Draft and several current Oregon Ducks were among those selected.
Catcher Gwen Svekis was the first player chosen with the number three overall pick to the Chicago Bandits. Svekis has spent part of her Senior season behind the plate,, but also has played a key Offensive role as the Designated Player and not playing in the field. Her home run output has already surpassed what she hit all of last season.
She has a new found patience at the plate and is seeing the ball well entering the final month of the regular season. Svekis has also become a fan favorite at Jane Sanders Stadium.
Jenna Lilley has patrolled third base throughout her Oregon career and was selected 21st in the Pro Fastpitch College Draft. Lilley brings National experience as well and has played a key Defensive role in the infield with the Oregon Ducks. In her Senior season, she has made plays forcing outs at first base, but has struggled slightly at the plate.
Senior DJ Sanders came to play for the Oregon Ducks in her Senior Season. The change of scenery for Sanders has done her well at the plate. The addition of Sanders makes the loss of Nikki Udria easier to take, especially with her production at the plate in recent weeks.
Sanders was selected just ahead of Lilley at 21st in the Pro Fastpitch College Draft.
