Oregon Ducks land 4-Star Linebacker Mase Funa after big recruiting weekend during the 2018 Spring Game.

Mase Funa committed to Oregon Football on Sunday and so far is the blue-chip player of the 2019 Recruiting Class. He is the highest rated Linebacker Commit in Program history according to Andrew Nemec of the Oregonian and the type of player that Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt has nightmares about trying to defend, but in this case it is a dream come true.

Funa could also be the start of good things for Oregon Football. He is a product of Mater Dei High School, a recruiting hotbed for some of the best talent in the country recently. The Ducks also have the commitment of Four Star Defensive Tackle Keyon Ware-Hudson, also a Mater Dei player.

On Saturday, the Oregon Football Recruiting Class of 2017 had a big day on the field during the Spring Game and with over 50 recruits watching from the stands, it was an impressive display. Running Back CJ Verdell had two touchdowns. Quarterback Braxton Burmeister shook off a rough 2017 season to throw for a score and show off his arm. Some of the recruits spoke about Burmeister during practice on Friday.

Head Coach Mario Cristobal spoke at length following the Spring Game at what he is looking for from his players this season. Commitment and integrity are words he has used consistently during his time in Eugene. Both of these qualities are keys to becoming a Man of Oregon. His words are now starting to find their way outside of Eugene and with a highly talented and NFL Experienced Coaching Staff, recruits are looking at the Oregon Ducks.

While the next signing day is close to a year away, the impression made on Saturday for those uncommitted should be clear for months to come.
