NFL Draft: Tennessee Titans Continue To Build Around Marcus Mariota
The Tennessee Titans exercised the fifth year option on Quarterback Marcus Mariota on Tuesday.
Titans General Manager Jon Robinson said last week on a Nashville Radio Station that the move was one of the top priorities. It guarantees that Mariota will get paid and also give the team time to iron out a more long term extension. With a new Head Coach the team can address other needs for the upcoming season and also focus on the NFL Draft.
The Tennessee Titans have been smart over the four years with Marcus Mariota in the fold when it comes to Draft Day. The team has put a priority on finding pieces to help their QB and they will have to do it again in 2018. With the team tasting post season success, the Titans first pick is at number 25.
Tennessee has had more hits than misses since Mariota was drafted. Lineman Jake Conkln suffered a torn ACL against New England in the Playoffs last season and is still recovering from the injury. Starting positions are set for the most part. The team replaced DeMarco Murray signing Dion Lewis wh should compliment Derrick Henry at Running Back.
The Titans have had some problems at Wide Receiver and could use their first pick for some speed at the position, if there is a player available. Vrabel was hired to help Mariota use his potential to the best of his ability and that has not been the case very often in his first four seasons.
The team has six selections in the 2018 NFL Draft with the 25th overall pick in the first round and the 25th pick in the 2nd round. The NFL Draft begins on Thursday evening and concludes on Saturday.
