Oregon Offensive Tackle Tyrell Crosby falls to the 5th Round and is selected by the Detroit Lions.

The Pre Draft Hype for Tyrell Crosby was high. He played himself easily into a First Round NFL Draft pick role just in his Senior season with Oregon Football. He did not allow a sack from his position on the Offensive Line for the entire season and worked on technique provided by Offensive Line Coach Mario Cristobal during his final season. It was clear in the first two days, teams were filling more immediate needs.

Two former Oregon Ducks will reunite on the same side of the ball this Fall with Crosby playing with LeGarrette Blount, who was signed as a Free Agent with Detroit earlier this year. Tyrell Crosby could also fill an immediate need along the Lions Offensive Line. The former Duck can play multiple positions including left and right tackle and could find a spot on the Opening Day roster as a Starter.

Crosby made a late pre-draft visit to the Detroit Lions last week. Detroit Lions General Manager Bob Quinn stressed the importance of building the trenches with five of the Lions first selections addressing the Offensive Line. First-round pick Frank Ragnow(Arkansas) and Crosby were among two of the first five picks.

Tyrell Crosby has a unique skill set in that he can play both tackle positions and also the inside guard position of the Offensive Line. His ability was part of why he should have been drafted higher. Part of the reason he dropped could be due to an injury that cost him his Junior season as an Oregon Duck.
