Oregon Ducks Kenyon Yovan Strikes Out Fifteen In Win
The Oregon Ducks needed a big performance on the mound on Saturday to tie the series with the USC Trojans.
Kenyon Yovan was the answer. In just the fifth start of his career, Yovan struck out fifteen Trojan batters and endured a 30-minute rain delay to go a strong eight innings in a 9-2 win over USC on Saturday.
The first three innings saw a close score with the game tied at 2 going into the middle of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the frame, the Ducks Offense came to life. USC Starter Quentin Longrie gave up six hits to the Ducks, but that wasn’t the issue. He also gave up six walks. With two outs in the frame, he walked a fourth batter allowing the Ducks to begin a five-run inning.
Oregon hit .286 as a team and were on point with two outs hitting better than .500 before the end of an inning. The Ducks were also 5 for 8 from the leadoff position vs USC. The Ducks had 8 hits and 9 runs led by Jakob Goldfarb with a double and an RBI. Jonny DeLuca also had two hits.
The USC Trojans had no answer for Kenyon Yovan on the mound. He was dominant from the start striking out the side to open the game. He was dominant giving up just two hits and two runs. Yovan did not issue a walk and struck out 15, the third most in a game in the history of Oregon Baseball. He raised his record on the season to 4-2.

Oregon will look to take the series on Sunday. First pitch is set for Noon from PK Park. Following the finale with USC, Oregon hosts a single game against the Oregon State Beavers on Tuesday (5:30 pm PT) before traveling to UC Irvine for a three-game series next weekend.
