Oregon Ducks Sweep Washington For Seventh Straight Win

The Oregon Ducks dropped 16 runs and 24 hits in sweeping the Washington Huskies on the road over the weekend.

Oregon Softball is firing in all cylinders at the right part of the season. The Ducks Starting Pitchers were 3-0 over the Huskies. Megan Kleist picked up two wins and Miranda Elish earned her 17th win on the year. She has 16 complete games this season and has become an important asset and Saturday starter in recent weeks for the Oregon Ducks.

Mike White and the Ducks found their Offense on Friday in the series opener. Washington Starter Taran Alvelo pitched well over the first five innings giving up two runs. She held the Ducks to a .270 average and hitting just .100 with runners in scoring position.

The game went into extra innings and Alvelo faced a Defensive Error allowing Oregon to earn a run, then DJ Sanders belted a grand slam over the left field wall giving Oregon a 7-2 lead for the win.

Oregon continued to be dominant in the circle on Saturday with Miranda Elish. She threw a complete game giving up two runs and two hits and striking out 7 Washington batters. Oregon had 6 hits led by Lauren Lindvall who went 2 for 3 with a home run. DJ Sanders was 2 for 4 for the game. Washington outhit the Ducks, and both teams left 7 runners stranded on base. Elish also had a plate appearance going 0-1. Oregon won the game 4-2.

On Sunday, the series finale saw Megan Kleist in the circle again for Oregon. The Ducks took an early lead with a five-run outburst in the fifth inning. Lauren Lindvall and Haley Cruise both scored when Jenna Lilley hit a double to right field giving Oregon a 2-1 lead, but the Ducks weren’t done in the inning. DJ Sanders, the hero from Friday helped add to to the lead with another home run.

The Washington Huskies out hit Oregon .379 to .267 for the game and again outhit the Ducks 11 to 8, but Kleist combined with Elish in the final game of the series to secure the win 5-3.

Oregon has won seven straight games and will host the Utah Utes next weekend in the final Pac-12 Regular Season games at Jane Sanders Stadium starting Friday at 7 pm Pacific Time.
