The Oregon Ducks Baseball team is back to one game under .500 following a stellar night by Kenyon Yovan.

Yovan entered the game as the Starting Pitcher. Last weekend Matt Mercer left with an undisclosed injury moving the two-way player Yovan into the Friday night role and he embraced the opportunity. Despite walking six batters through seven innings, he picked up his fifth win of the season, He also helped at the plate with a two-run home run in a 6-2 win over the Utah Utes.

The Oregon Ducks Offense found some life with nine hits in the game leaving 12 runners on base. Yovan and Johnny Deluca had home runs and were both 2 for 5 with two RBI’s respectively in the series-opening win. Yovan had a rough start on the mound but settled in holding the Utah Utes to batting just .200 for the game. They had the most success out of their leadoff hitters throughout the game going 5 for 9, but inducing double plays kept the Utes off the scoreboard.

Kenyon Yovan helped Oregon to 14 ground ball outs. Utah was 5 for 16 with runners in scoring position. It was the seventh quality start for Yovan this season.

Oregon hit .281 for the game and over .300 with runners in scoring position. Utah Starter Tanner Thomas threw five innings giving up 7 hits and 4 runs in the loss.

Utah is 13-33 on the season and 6-16 in the Pac-12. Oregon can get back to .500 with a win. The Ducks are 23-23 and 9-13 in Conference play.
