The Oregon Ducks have dismissed Linebacker Fotu Leaito from the team following his second arrest this year.
Oregon Football Head Coach has made it clear that off the field issues will NOT be an issue with the Oregon Ducks. The first year Head Coach made it clear by releasing Linebacker Fotu Leaito who was arrested for the second time in April for criminal mischief and attempting to remove a parking boot from his vehicle in Eugene.
The Senior Linebacker was in line for a possible Starting Role with Oregon Football this Fall after a promising Spring that saw Leaito put up three sacks in the Oregon Spring Game. Cristobal said he would take ‘appropriate action’ once he reviewed the case according to ESPN.
Leaito faces three charges in his most recent arrest including criminal trespassing, theft, and criminal mischief.
The Outside Linebacker position was a key area to watch in Fall Camp and could now be a pivotal piece to keep an eye on for the 2018 season. Leaito was expected to compete with La’Mar Winston Jr. for a spot at Outside Linebacker and also provide depth at the key ‘hybrid’ position in Jim Leavitt’s Defensive scheme.
Leavitt and the Oregon Defense have options on Defense. After losing Jonah Moi and Jimmie Swain to graduation, Justin Hollins and Troy Dye lead a group of return players. Keith Simms showed off his talent in the Spring and took a big step. I expect Simms to be in the rotation this Fall. Oregon also has a handful of players joining the team by way of Transfer in time for Fall Camp.
The loss of Leaito hurts more because of his three seasons of experience on the field with the Oregon Ducks, but Oregon has enough talent to be able to find success.
