Seattle Mariners First Baseman Ryon Healy had a big impact in winning the series vs the Toronto Bluejays.

Last season, the former Oregon Duck had a breakout month of July with the Oakland A’s as a Rookie. In the offseason, he was traded to the Seattle Mariners and he is making big strides as the team pushes into the Summer. Healy went 3 for 4 on Sunday in a 3-1 win over Toronto.

The month of May has been a series of hot and cold streaks for Healy. Last Thursday he was on the bench. Despite a batting average of .254 on the year, he does have 8 home runs and 7 doubles.

Earlier this month, with the Oakland A’s in Seattle, Healy spoke about his move to Seattle. He simply said ‘it was time to move on.’ Playing time with the Athletics was going for a premium and Healy was more of an outsider looking in. Matt Olson, Matt Pinder, and Chad Olson took the infield positions leaving Ryon Healy as a bench player despite solid success after his midseason call-up in 2017. A trade was the best outcome for Healy to find success.

Ryon Healy is looking for a place that he fits in, where is playing style compliments the team. He has found a home with the Seattle Mariners and even his Coach, Scott Servais is impressed with what he has seen so far, “He’s done a really nice job over at first, probably better than we first anticipated after we acquired him after the trade.”

The Seattle Mariners are the eighth best hitting team in baseball as the team enters June. Ryon Healy is the 8th best hitter on the team, but if he finds his power like last season could start moving up the list and also into the Starting Lineup.
