Oregon Basketball: Ducks Face Iowa Hawkeyes In 2018 2K Sports Classic
The Oregon Ducks will meet the Iowa Hawkeyes at Madison Square Garden in the 2018 2K Sports Classic
The Oregon Ducks found little consistency during the 2017-18 season. Despite losing early in the Pac-12 Tournament, Oregon earned an NIT bid, getting into the second round after beating Rider at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks headed to Marquette and lost in the second round. Troy Brown entered the season as a coveted 5-Star player that could lead the Oregon Ducks back to the NCAA Tournament.
Brown, along with Transfers Elijah Brown and MiKyle McIntosh were expected to lead the team along with the Veteran Point Guard in Payton Pritchard. After a 23-13 season, three of the four are gone and Pritchard will be the lone returner from the group.
Pritchard will again be surrounded by new talent including a 7 foot 3 Center in Bol Bol. Impact player Kenny Wooten also returns for 2018 along with postseason sharpshooter Victor Bailey Jr.
Oregon will meet Iowa in an early season matchup in the 2018 2K Sports Classic. The Hawkeyes did not have a good season in 2018 finishing 14-19 and just 4-14 in the Big Ten Conference. Iowa beat Colorado last season along with important victories against Illinois and Wisconsin.
The Ducks begin the season in a similar position from last season. Finding early chemistry will be important not just for the non-conference, but for the season.
According to Jon Rothstein, Oregon will matchup with Iowa and Uconn will take on Syracuse. Winners will play the following day as will the losers. The first games are currently slated for November 15th.
With Troy Brown headed into the NBA Draft this week, Payton Pritchard is the only regular returning Starter for the Oregon Ducks in 2018.
