Oregon Football landed their third commitment in four days with the addition of Defensive Lineman Sua’ava Poti.

According to Duck Territory, Head Coach Mario Cristobal and Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt both had roles in getting Poti to commit to play for Oregon Football. He is the 12th player for the Class of 2019 for the Ducks. Out of California, he is also one of the strongest players in the State.

Greg Biggens breaks down the play of Sua’ava Poti who missed part his Junior year due to injury. He has a high motor and is big. He plays a physical and athletic game, which is what Leavitt looks for in his Defensive Line.

Poti could also be a likely starter in his first season in Eugene with Jalen Jelks and Troy Dye entering their Senior and Junior seasons respectively.

With the addition of Poti, Oregon Football is finally starting to make some headway in the State of California compared to just a few seasons ago when Mark Helfrich struggled. Sua’ava Poti is the eighth commitment from the State of California for the 2019 Recruiting Class and the twelfth overall.

He is 6 foot 3 and 275 pounds and out of John Bosco High School, an up and coming school for solid talent in the State. The Ducks also have a quintet from Mater Dei High School that includes Sean Dollars, Mase Funa, Keyon Ware-Hudson, Jeremiah Cridell, and Mykael Wright. All five will be a big part of Oregon Football in the near future.

Cristobal, along with his coaching staff are turning around the tide in Eugene bringing in top talent and earning their commitment early in the process. While there is time for them to consider other offers, the goal now is to keep them interested in Oregon Football. With some of the top facilities and fans in the country it is feeling like an easy task with National Signing Day eight months away.
