Former Oregon Duck, Troy Brown Jr. was selected by the Washington Wizards in the first round of the 201 NBA Draft.

Troy Brown Jr. has spent the last month working out for NBA Teams racking up the frequent flyer mileage in the process. On Thursday night, he found a landing spot. He was the 15th overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards. Brown also worked out for Washington earlier this week. He is the first selection to go in the opening round of the NBA Draft under Dana Altman.

Last season saw several Oregon Ducks land in the NBA but in the second round led by Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey. Alman has sent five players to the National Basketball Association in the last five years and his track record speaks for itself.

For Troy Brown, Jr, who was expected to be a mid to late first round NBA Draft pick, the hard work has put in over the last month has paid off. Entering the NBA Draft after one season with Oregon, there were inconsistencies in his game – especially beyond the arc where he hit just 29 percent in his one season with the Ducks. However, he is one of the youngest players that was Drafted and that means a very large upside along with time to develop.

As a first-round selection, Troy Brown Jr. will likely roll right into summer ball and will see an NBA Floor in his first season with the Washington Wizards. John Wall and Bradley Beal will help with his early development into the style of player that the Wizards are looking for.

I expect with his wingspan and the direction the NBA is headed, the former Oregon Duck could find success on the Defensive End of the floor while also being a shooter on Offense.

Sports Nation said the early reviews for the selection of Brown were mixed, but given some time, he should find his spot in the lineup with Washington.
