With all of the good that has come into the fold with Oregon Football in recent weeks, the Ducks lost a Defensive Recruit earlier this week.

Marques Caldwell announced his de-commitment from the Oregon Ducks on Wednesday night via Twitter. He had been committed to Oregon going back to October 21st when Willie Taggart was still Head Coach. With the transition to Mario Cristobal, Caldwell has not been on Twitter in welcoming other commits into the program.

Coupled with other visits around the country this Spring and Summer and allowing Caldwell to talk with other schools, he gave the Ducks a chance to reassign his commitment. In looking at Oregon in 2018, Ugochukwu Amadi will move to Safety according to the Oregon Football roster.

The Oregon Ducks will look to Thomas Graham Jr who is entering his Sophomore season. Graham Jr showed some positive signs in his Freshman season. His second year under Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt may see him in a bigger role. Transfer Haki Woods will likely be a Starter early in the season.

The Defensive secondary is young and hungry entering 2018. Cornerback is not in the ‘area of concern’ for the 2019 season, but another player at the positional rotation never hurts. Two seasons ago the Oregon Defense gave up 41 points per game. Last season, the first under Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt Oregon cut that number down to 29 points per game.

The team was off to a 6-1 start before Quarterback Justin Herbert went down with an injury. In the end, the team made it to the Las Vegas Bowl and lost to Boise State. The team was led by Mario Cristobal vs the Broncos. Willie Taggart announced he was leaving to become Head Coach of Florida State causing a sizable distraction entering bowl week.
