Former Oregon Football Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has found success in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The big name in the CFL this season is Johnny Manziel, who is looking to get back to the NFL after a rough start to his career in the States that has been well documented. The thought with the CFL was to give Manziel time to work on his skillset, but a surprise at Quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats has kept Manziel on the sidelines.

Former Oregon Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has been fighting demons of his own over the last several years and over the last two weeks has stepped up his game to lead Hamilton to wins. He completed 31 of 41 passes for 369 yards and a touchdown. The Tiger-Cats are now 2-1 on the season and Masoli has thrown for over  300 yards in eight consecutive games. He has clearly found his rhythm with the Hamilton Offense and on the field, it is clear he is one of the go-to leaders for his teammates.

Hamilton Head Coach June Jones has been around College Football, the NFL and now the CFL. He knows the game and also knew before Johnny Manziel came to the team that he would likely not be his Starting Quarterback this season. Masoli has been tested time and time again. After leaving Oregon he finished his college career with a 4-8 Ole Miss team. He found himself in the CFL in 2013 and stuck around for his chance that came in 2017 under Jones.

So far this season, the ‘gamble’ on Jeremiah Masoli has gone from a cautionary tale to one of retribution in the Canadian Football League. He even managed to upstage the big CFL Storyline of Manziel in the process be playing so well, the former Texas A&M Star has yet to see the field.
