Royce Freeman Finds Success In NFL Preseason vs Minnesota Vikings
Royce Freeman showed what he can do when he is healthy scoring his first NFL Touchdown against Minnesota on Saturday night.
For Oregon Football fans, Royce Freeman played hard as an Oregon Duck. There were times that he was injured and still gave his all on the field despite not being 100 percent. In his Senior Season, he became the All-Time leading rusher in Oregon History surpassing LaMichael James and on Saturday had one of the most anticipated professional debuts over the last few seasons.
Freeman did not disappoint. Despite being part of a losing effort to the Minnesota Vikings, he had four carries for thirty-eight yards where he showed not only his patience but his power to get to the outside and score for his first Professional touchdown. Former Oregon Running Back has been impressive in camp over the last few weeks and could very well find himself in the mix for a Starting position with the Denver Broncos early next month.
While the team is settling in at Running Back, the team has work to do in other areas, including at Quarterback. Paxton Lynch has shown promise but struggled. He was 6 for 11 for 24 yards in the game giving up a sack and throwing an interception. The team found more success with three and outs than they did moving the ball down the field against Minnesota.
Starting Quarterback Case Keenum saw success on the first play of the game, followed by a penalty on the second. Fundamentals will be worked on this week as the team prepares for their second Preseason Game. While Freeman’s success was good to see, it is clear that Denver has more Offensive Work to do.
The Denver Broncos host the Chicago Bears this Saturday, August 18th at 6:05 pm Pacific Time. Denver hosts the Seattle Seahawks for their Regular Season opener on September 9th.
