2018 Oregon Football: No Real Offensive Surprises In Week One Depth Chart
Oregon Football opens the regular season on Saturday and Head Coach Mario Cristobal has released the first Depth Chart of the year.
Cristobal will refer to it more as an Organizational Chart. The first Starter that will surprise no one is at Starting Quarterback. Last season, Justin Herbert led the Oregon Ducks to a 6-1 record to open the season before an injury derailed the season, which ended in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Entering his Junior Season, Herbert is back stronger and also has NFL Scouts salivating over his talent and potential at the next level. Expect plenty of NFL Draft buzz all season for Herbert, especially if the team is winning.
At Running Back, Royce Freeman was a staple over the last four seasons, leaving Oregon as the teams All-Time Leading Rusher. He gives way to Tony Brooks-James who enters the year stronger and ready to compete. Behind him is a new Running Backs coach in Jim Mastro who lists Brooks-James as the Starter, but the team will have a Running Back by Committee behind him. The Depth Chart lists ‘Situational’, but expect Taj Griffin, Travis Dye, Darrian Felix and Darrian Felix among several capable players who will see the field.
