Tennesee Titans Quarterback Marcus Mariota was practicing Wednesday and getting ready for the Houston Texans following an injury he suffered Sunday vs Miami

Last week was not a good one for the Tennessee Titans and Quarterback Marcus Mariota. The former Oregon Football Signal Caller was pulled down hard landing on his shoulder and elbow. The player in him stayed in the game and went on to throw back to back interceptions in a loss to the Dolphins.

Miami Defensive Lineman William Hayes was the player who hit Mariota on the play. On Wednesday, the National Football League had a chance to review the play and said it was illegal. Hayes should have been penalized on the play. As it stands now, it does not matter much, aside from an injury that could linger. Despite the injury, Mariota was a participant in Wednesday Practice and says he is ready to go and feeling better, “Kind of taking it one day at a time, but I was able to go through practice today and it felt pretty good.”

Mariota and the Titans are 0-1 on the season after playing a team they should have beat in South Florida last week. Tennessee faces the Houston Texans this week in a Divisional matchup. The winner will have a leg up in the Conference race.

Last season, Marcus Mariota helped lead the team to the NFL Playoffs for the first time since the Music City Miracle. While the team looks to Mariota as a leader, someone else on Offense will have to step into a key role. Tight End Delanie Walker was lost for the season to a leg injury against the Miami Dolphins. While he is done for the year, Mariota’s offseason work with his Wide Receivers and Tight Ends should help provide chemistry and allow someone an opportunity to be his ‘go to’ player.
