Oregon Basketball has been on quite the up-tick in the past few years when it comes to recruiting.

Dana Altman, not historically an elite recruiter, has reeled in some of the highest rated high school prospects in the history of the school over the past few seasons. The latest of which, of course, being Bol Bol and Louis King — five star freshmen set to make their Oregon debut in November. Altman is starting to establish Oregon as a major recruiting threat; and, while he’ll never join the cloud-9 echelon of salesman including Kentucky’s John Calipari and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski,
Altman could find himself on the next tier, and in the hunt for potential NBA-caliber players. And hey, instead of landing five star recruits as often as the Browns win football games, bringing in blue-chippers could become a yearly occurrence.

It looks like Altman is wheeling and dealing once again on the recruiting front as 5-star 2019 power forward Aidan Igiehon is in Eugene for his official visit, per his official twitter page:

Even though Igiehon is on campus and included Oregon in his final four, it doesn’t appear that the Ducks are the favorites.

According to 247 Sports crystal ball — which some look to as the be-all end-all of predicting where recruits will go — gives new head coach Chris Mack and Louisville a 67% chance of landing Igiehon. Kentucky is second with a 33% chance, even though Calipari hasn’t officially offered him yet.

Nonetheless, Igiehon taking the initiative and making the trip is a good sign no matter how you cut it. And, who knows? A weekend around the staff and facilities could sway Igiehon one way or the other. When it comes to recruiting, things change almost daily and each player is different. Hell, Igiehon was willing to include a team in his final cut that had yet to even offer him — and still hasn’t — so, at this point, while experts will spew their takes and tapes of interviews with random AAU assistant coaches, no one can really be certain about each player’s mindset, Igiehon included.

And if you’re not sold on Aidan yet, here are some highlights:

He’s also nicknamed the “Irish Hulk,” in case you (somehow) needed any more reason to want this young man in an Oregon uniform next fall.
