Pac-12 season begins in full next week, but we have been given a few early season in-conference games. The best one may be this evening when Washington and Utah faceoff in Salt Lake City.
The Washington Huskies have struggled early with a loss against Auburn. While it was the first game of the season and it was by no means a blowout, it still counted as a loss for the Huskies. History is in favor of Washington who has gone 10-1 against the Utes historically(and are favored in this game.)The Huskies, like all teams have a few flaws, but finding them may be more difficult than other programs.
According to Athlon Sports, the Washington Offensive Line has dealt with injury this season, along with youth. Against Auburn, they averaged just over 4 yards on the ground on running plays. This average needs to improve. Utah is one of the better Defensive teams in the Pac-12 Conference and could be primed for an upset if they can make Washington one-dimensional on Saturday night.
The Utes Offense is putting up close to 30 points per game. Quarterback Tyler Hundley has the team on a good track putting up four touchdowns through two games. The Utes ground game has put up solid numbers with Running Back Zach Moss running for 216 yards and two touchdowns.
Utah’s Secondary will be tested by Browning. The Utes have yet to give up a touchdown through the air this season an that could be the deciding factor in the game.
Oregon Football will face both teams this season. Washington looms in a few weeks at Autzen Stadium(Saturday, October 13th). The game against Utah will be on the road later in the season.
Washington and Utah will be the late matchup this evening. Kickoff is set for 10 pm Pacific Time on ESPN. The Oregon Ducks host San Jose State at 2 pm Pacific Time on Pac-12 Network.
