It was a rough weekend in the National Football League for two former Oregon Football players as both Terrance Mitchell and Jonathan Stewart could be out the rest of the season.

Jonathan Stewart suffered a foot injury last week and the potential timeline for his recovery is eight weeks, meaning he could return to the New York Giants lineup before the end of the season.

Former Oregon Running Back is the Carolina Panthers All-Time leading rusher and was expected to play a bigger role with the Giants Running Game this season. One of the big reasons he was brought on board was to help Rookie Saquan Barkley, however with Stewart sidelined with the potential to return, along with a 1-3 start by the New York Giants as a team, the struggle goes past the Running Backs.

New York faces the World Champion Philadelphia Eagles this week who were beaten last week by another former Oregon Duck in Marcus Mariota, who threw three touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime to Corey Davis.

Another former Oregon Defensive player, Terrance Mitchell may too be lost for the season after breaking his wrist last weekend against Oakland. Initially, it was expected to be season-ending, but following surgery, Mitchell has the chance to possibly return before the end of the regular season. Mitchell has been an important piece of the Cleveland Browns Defense this season.

For both Mitchell and Stewart the respective teams designated both for potential returns after eight weeks. They can begin practicing if permitted after six weeks. In the meantime, their respective teams will be without them on the field. New York faces Philadelphia this week. The Cleveland Browns host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

While both players will not be on the field over the next two months, they will likely be on the sidelines. As it stands, New York and Cleveland had a long way to go to make a playoff push this season It will be harder without key players like Terrance Mitchell and Jonathan Stewart on the field.
