Draft-Eligible quarterbacks performed swimmingly this past weekend, as I’m sure you’ve come to expect. The rankings, though, look a little bit different than they did seven days ago, minus Justin Herbert of course.

Stats via ESPN

1. Justin Herbert (Oregon)

Stats: 25/44 for 270 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT

Despite a team loss and a mediocre outing, Justin still wears the crown in these rankings. It’s like last year with Deandre Ayton and the NBA draft. I don’t care if you get dominated by Buffalo, you’re still going first in the draft because you a body like Statue of David and the athleticism of Clint Capela, so yeah, I’m still gonna draft you first. Herbert, on the other hand, has the arm of Phil Rivers and the ad-libbing ability of Alex Smith. The best of two solid franchise quarterbacks. He’s the number one, still.

2. Drew Lock (Missouri)

Stats: 23/29 for 350 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT

Lock has risen from the ashes of last week’s poor performance like a phoenix, ready to burn all those who doubted him — such as me. Yikes! But yeah, Drew put on a passing clinic again Memphis who, a week ago, should have beaten 10th ranked and undefeated UCF. Against the other Tigers, Lock threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns. Additionally, he only had 6 incompletions and didn’t commit a single turnover. Perfect. He’s number two now by a wide margin.

in the Kentucky Derby. To me, there is nothing not to like about Kyler Murray. He’s probably the most electric playmaker in the draft, and with Lock and Herbert off the board, the throwing prowess between everyone is relatively similar. So give me the all around difference maker who can make jaw-dropping plays with his feet.

4. Will Grier (West Virginia)

Bye

Grier is still a guy I’d like to have on my NFL franchise, but upon further investigation, I’ll admit that I thought he was a little better than he actually is perhaps. I still like the Mahomes-ian way in which he chucks the ball downfield, and I still like his decision making. I’m just not sure the necessary QB-magic DNA is there for him to be starting regularly on Sundays.

5. Gardner Minshew (Washington State)

Stats: 39/51 for 323 yards, 4 TD, 2 INT

This dude is one of the NCAA’s leaders all passing categories, and he just worked his sorcery against a ranked Oregon squad. He throws for 300-500 yards in pretty much every game and gets practically no help from his backfield. A lot of this production is probably due to Mike Leach and his undeniable and unmatched brilliance, but Minshew deserves a little credit. The situation is similar to the LA Rams and Jared Goff. Sure, Sean McVay may be the brightest offensive mind in the league, but Goff still makes some special throws. It goes both ways. With Minshew, I think it’s time to begin buying stock in this young man, and the price may already be too high.
