The last two weekends for Oregon Football have not gone to plan. The Ducks suffered back to back losses and may have also lost two key Offensive Players this week.

On Monday Head Coach Mario Cristobal announced that Quarterback Justin Herbert and Wide Receiver Dillon Mitchell were in concussion protocol following the Arizona game. The game did not go well from the start as Herbert struggled to find Wide Receivers and Oregon for the second week in a row really struggled to find success in the run game and also on third down. The Ducks punter saw the ball nearly as much as Mitchell had catches on Saturday night in the loss against the Arizona Wildcats.

With word that Herbert and Mitchell are out for now, where does that leave the team entering a Homecoming Weekend with Chip Kelly and the UCLA Bruins coming to Eugene? Backup Quarterback Braxton Burmeister had a procedure earlier this season but is practicing with the team. I personally would give Freshman Tyler Shough an opportunity to see the ball if Herbert cannot go on Saturday. Jaylon Redd help Oregon Football light up the scoreboard during the non-conference slate this season and could be the key player for Oregon this weekend if Mitchell is sidelined.

The Oregon Ducks are entering a key stretch of their season and need a single win to become bowl eligible. More importantly, Oregon needs to show consistency with their Offense the rest of the season. The team needs to find their identity in the Run Game. Where is Tony Brooks-James? CJ Verdell has shown he has star power for Oregon, but he can also not do it alone.

While Shough deserves an opportunity, Braxton Burmeister came to Oregon to play. He came to the Ducks as a passer out of high school setting records along the way. Recruits last season echoed his name as they watched him at practice. If Burmeister is the Starter, he has a big chance to show off his talent and his arm. He has now had a season under his belt along with time in the weight room and around his teammates.
