Oregon Football has not played well over the last two weeks, and Head Coach Mario Cristobal knows that there are occasional bumps on the road to success.

While it may sound cliche like the first sentence of a Book on Business, it really isn’t. On Wednesday, Cristobal met with the media ahead of the Ducks matchup on Saturday against Chip Kelly and the UCLA Bruins. With Quarterback Justin Herbert and Dillon Mitchell clearing Concussion Protocol on Wednesday, it is still not known who will get the start(s) on Saturday.

One player that has stood out on Defense in Practice, and on the field of late is Brady Breeze. He has shown the ability to be able to pick up playing multiple positions and it is something that Cristobal has noticed in his play “We always teach our players to know their position and what’s around them…When you fit a run or string out a run, where is your help? He’s done a really good job understanding all of those concepts. Moving him around, there really is no hesitation.”

Of course, the Pac-12 Conference again this season has likely played itself out of the College Football Playoff. Strong teams have lost to weaker teams but right now the goal for Oregon is to find a path to victory, “The best way to face adversity is to go attack it. The mentality we attack every game has been good. Part of the biggest thing is that in the Pac-12 every team has the ability to beat anybody on any given week and I think the teams that understand that the best are going to have the most success.”

While two losses does put Oregon Football at the top of the Pac-12, the Ducks have a lot to still play for this season. A win against UCLA puts the Ducks at 6 wins and bowl eligibility. When Mario Cristobal was hired he did not hide the fact that building ‘his’ championship team would take some time.

Cristobal reiterated again on Wednesday that there are no quick fixes, “We have not only laid a foundation, we’ve built a foundation. For the last 14 days we haven’t. It all relies on fundamentals, the way we teach and the way we play and bringing it all together. To get real results you have to have a real approach. This is when you find out what kind of people you have around you.”

Injuries this season at key positions have also allowed others to step in and get key experience during games. Brady Breeze is a key example. We may also see another player earn a key start Saturday that we have not seen in a staring role this season.
