Oregon Women’s Basketball: Ducks Get Defensive vs Long Beach State

The Oregon Ducks played solid Defense against Long Beach State in a 110-48 win.

It was a big game for Kelly Graves and the 3rd ranked Oregon Women’s Basketball team. Every player for the Ducks scored. Erin Boley led in points followed closely by Ruthy Hebard. Boley finished the game with 24 points and 4 rebounds finding inside buckets off passes from Sabrina Ionescu.

While Ionescu had 12 points, she broke the Oregon Single Assist record with 17 against Long Beach State helping Oregon shoot over 60 percent from the field as a team. Oregon outrebounded Long Beach State 41-20 and landed 93 percent of their free throws. As a team, Oregon leads the nation in free throw percentage hitting 85 percent as a team this season.

Oregon saw most of their scoring inside hitting just 13 of 14 from the charity stripe. Oregon pulled down 30 defensive rebounds and had an impressive 50 points in the paint. The Ducks were also dominant on Defense with 5 blocks and 10 steals forcing Long Beach State into 18 turnovers. Kelly Graves watched his team turn the ball over 9 times.

For Long Beach State, Shanaijah Davidson had 25 points. The rest of the team was held to single digits by Oregon. As a team, Long Beach State hit 34 percent from the floor and were held to 14 percent from three-point range. It was the first game this season that Oregon hit the 100 point mark.

The non-conference slate continues with a trip to East Lansing to visit Michigan State. The Spartans have seen some easy wins most recently against Virginia and Texas Southern. The team struggled against 13th ranked North Carolina a few weeks ago, but managed to come back and fight despite losing by four points in the end, 78-74.
