The Oregon Ducks will stay close to home for the first four rounds of the NCAA Tournament starting in Eugene on Friday night.

Matthew Knight Arena will host the first two rounds of the Women’s NCAA Tournament this weekend. The four-team pod in the Eugene Regional includes the (2) Ducks, (15) Portland State, (10) Indiana, and (7) Texas. Oregon cannot overlook their own regional. The big test for the Oregon Ducks could come next week when the action shifts to Portland. The 1 Seed in the Portland Regional is Mississippi State, a team that lost to Oregon at Matthew Knight Arena earlier this season.

Oregon landed as a two seed mainly due to their record at 29-4 as well as losing the Pac-12 Tournament two weeks ago against the Stanford Cardinal. Both teams are ranked in the Top 10, one space apart entering this week, but that all goes out the window as winning your games in our respective regional is all that matters.

With Women’s Basketball having two weeks out of action, teams have had a chance to rest up, work in the gym and get more healthy for the grind that is the NCAA Tournament. Oregon is no exception. Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard will be ready to go on Friday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

Oregon has worked all season for this kind of opportunity. With wins, the Oregon Ducks have a chance to play close to home for the first two weeks of the Women’s NCAA Tournament which could take them all the way to the Elite 8.

Friday will feature two games in Eugene. First, Indiana will meet Texas at 4 pm Pacific TIme followed by the Oregon Ducks and Portland State currently slated for 6 pm. The second game will tipoff 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game if Game 1 goes long.
