Despite winning ovr Montana, Oregon Football dropped a spot in the latest Associated Press Poll and enter this week 16th for their matchup at Stanford.

The Pac-12 Conference is well represented this week with six teams finding a way into the poll. Utah entered the top ten followed by the Ducks at 16. Four other Pac-12 teams made the poll this week thanks in part to Arizona State’s last-second win over Michigan State. Last week California shocked Washington in Seattle and Washington State topped Houston on Friday.

Washington State is ranked 19th followed by a logjam of Pac-12 teams with Washington, California, and Arizona State coming in between 22 and 24 respectively. Having six ranked teams this early could be a big assist to both Oregon Football and Utah, but everyone has to keep winning moving forward, which may not be easy as conference play begins.

The top seven in the poll saw shuffling by one team in Notre Dame. Clemson is still ranked first, followed by Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Auburn moved to number 8. Oklahoma moved up a spot to 4th following their impressive defeat over UCLA on the road.

It was impressive not because UCLA is down, but because Quarterback Jalen Hurts accounted for over 450 yards of Offense on his own. With the win, he also moved up with the second-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy this season after playing just three games.

Hurts earned praise from UCLA Head Coach Chip Kelly, “He’s a great player, as good as I’ve ever had the opportunity to coach against,.“

For Oregon Football, the defense has been impressive allowing just three field goals to the opposition in two home games this season. They will be tested at Stanford by a Cardinal team that did not play their best last week at UCF. Oregon and Stanford kickoff at 4 pm Pacific Time Saturday on ESPN.
