Former Oregon Duck Kenny Wooten has been invited NBA Training Camp for the New York Knicks.

Kenny Wooten could be entering his senior season with Oregon Basketball to become a force on the defensive end of the floor, but following last season Wooten declared for the NBA Draft. While he went undrafted, he was given an opportunity with the New York Knicks during the NBA Summer League. Despite averaging under two points per game, his athleticism caught some eyes in the Knicks organization.

Earlier this week, New York invited Wooten, along with three other players to NBA Training Camp. Wooten played in just four games but averaged better than three blocks per game making the most of his opportunity when he was on the court.

Wooten has a unique opportunity to succeed entering training camp in a few weeks. The New York Knicks have one two-way contract remaining for the upcoming season. A two-way contract is how Chris Boucher found success with the Toronto Raptors over the last few seasons that led to a Championship and a ring for Boucher last season.

For Kenny Wooten, it is also a guaranteed contract and if he does not land the two-way contract he will likely be on an Exhibition 10 Contract that would send him to the Knicks G-League team if he does not make the NBA Roster following camp. Financial terms were not disclosed but the non-guaranteed deal comes with up to $50,000 in bonuses if Wooten remains with the G-League team for 60 days.

The former Oregon Duck should continue to open some eyes in training camp and may find himself with another team if there is a need. Wooten has shown his value at the defensive end of the floor and needs to work on his offense. In his final season with Oregon Basketball, he was able to contribute offensively while dominating on the defensive end of the floor.

NBA Training Camp opens for teams on October 1st.
