Oregon Football Wide Receiver Brenden Schooler entered the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon.

Head Coach Mario Cristobal was quick to move on from talking about Schooler on Wednesday at his press conference and wished Schooler well. He has played in three games this season for Oregon Football and has two catches for 44 yards. He suffered an injury over the summer that required surgery costing him the first month of the regular season.

With the new redshirt rule, if Schooler departs via the portal, he will have a full season as a graduate transfer in 2020 meaning he can play immediately wherever he goes. By putting his name in the transfer portal it will allow other teams who are interested to contact him.

Schooler has experience playing on both sides of the ball in his time with Oregon Football and he has had success as well. He is one of the most experienced players on the team and that will be missed.

Oregon moves forward with players that have gained experience as this season has progressed. Wide Receiver Jaylon Redd has scored a touchdown in five straight games. Mycah Pittman has shown big-play ability with emotion not seen from the position in quite some time. Pittman saw his first touchdown in his career at Washington last weekend. Johnny Johnson III has also played a big role in the first six weeks. The Ducks also have other players who have stepped up.

Spencer Webb and Daewood Davis came in during the injury-plagued first part of the season. I expect that Webb will step up again. In speaking with Cristobal, Davis will likely remain on the defensive side of the ball, at least for now.

Oregon Football hosts Washington State and Mike Leach on Saturday. The Cougars are 3-3 in the conference as the Ducks put a perfect home record on the line. The Ducks and Cougs kickoff at 7:30 pm Pacific Time on ESPN.
