The business trip continued for the Oregon Women’s Basketball team on Saturday as the Duck took a 21 point lead after the first quarter in a 101-53 win over the Colorado Buffaloes.

Sabrina Ionescu was again the focal point scoring a triple-double finishing with 24 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds as the Ducks are now 2/3 of the way through a stretch of three games in a week. It was Ionescu’s 23rd triple-double of her career and her fifth this season as she leads the team to a battle with UConn this week.

After dropping a game against Arizona State last month, the Oregon Ducks are now on a 7 game winning streak. When the Ducks got started vs Colorado, there was no looking back. It was clear from the start of the game who was the better team.

Colorado opened the game with a three-pointer and after that, Oregon took control with a 21-2 run which started with an Erin Boley three-pointer. All five starters scored during the early run. Oregon pushed their lead to 41 by the end of the third quarter as the starters were able to rest the rest. The final basket of the game went to Morgan Yaeger, fitting for a player who has fought through so much in her Ducks career.

After the game, Head Coach Kelly Graved expressed the importance level of the first two games of the road trip vs Utah and Colorado. Oregon took care of that test. Now, the bigger challenge against a UConn team that is currently ranked not far behind the Ducks. Last week, following wins over Oregon State, the Ducks moved ahead of UConn in the polls.

Connecticut has been the benchmark to follow in the Women’s game. While Oregon was able to beat Team USA earlier this season on their home floor, Uconn lost the Team USA last week. The game did not count, but there is a small crack in the UConn game. They dropped a home game against Baylor a few weeks ago also dropping a 98 game home winning streak. That’s six years of wins at home. For those counting, it is also how long Graves has been the Ducks Head Coach. For Oregon, the game Monday is as big as it gets to start February, but a loss won’t hurt them next month.

Oregon and Connecticut meet Monday at 4 pm Pacific Time from Storrs on ESPN2.
