Oregon Basketball has added a top talent at Point Guard in Jalen Terry who will work his way into the lineup for Dana Altman

Since the season ended abruptly due to the coronavirus pandemic Oregon Basketball ended the season just before the Pac-12 Tournament looking to make another NCAA Tournament run. With the season ended and several Ducks departing including Payton Pritchard to graduation and Francis Okoro to transfer, the Ducks are looking to reload for 2021.

Earlier this week, Point Guard Jalen Terry committed to Dana Altman and the Ducks. Terry is the number seven point guard in the country according to 247Sports. The Michigan native committed to play for the Ducks in January and averaged over 20 points per game in his final high school season.

Oregon will bring back several key pieces next season and will look to find space for some incoming talent. With the departure of Pritchard, several Ducks can play the point guard position including Will Richardson. Now, Terry should and likely will be in the mix for perhaps the starting spot. While Pritchard’s talent grew in his four seasons at Oregon, Terry comes in with talent and athleticism and will look to build chemistry early with his teammates.

Terry comes to Eugene with a 5 foot 10 frame weighing roughly 160 pounds. While he is not the tallest player on the floor, he will play with pace and athleticism similar to a now former Duck in Pritchard. He has a talent for making mid-range shots and is not afraid of the pull-up jump shot from anywhere on the floor.

He has a similar style to Pritchard in his passing game able to get the ball to a big man or to an open teammate on the floor. Terry has a knack for finding the ball on defense.

On the other end of the floor, Terry will not be much of a force on the higher end, but he will do his best on the lower. He averaged over 3 steals per game in his freshman high school season. He will find his way onto the floor in his first year with the Ducks, but not as a starter to begin with.

Jalen Terry is a good change of pace player and could be a key player off the bench and to start the season a player that no one sees coming. Terry was a Michigan State commitment until October of last year.
