Oregon football is trying to finish with the top recruiting class in the Pac-12 for 2022 and adding four-star receiver Evan Stewart would be a good start.

Mario Cristobal is one heck of a recruiter, that much is for certain.

The fourth-year head coach has only been able to lead the Ducks for two full seasons (he coached one game in 2017 and 2020 was COVID-19 shortened) but he’s still been able to recruit as well as anyone in the country. He’s not quite on the level of Nick Saban, but he just landed the No. 6 recruiting class in college football for 2021. Not too shabby.

Cristobal is now focused on the 2022 group and just landed his quarterback, Tanner Bailey, last week. And it hasn’t taken Bailey long to take after his new head coach.

Bailey wants to be the leader of the 2022 class and help with recruiting and he didn’t waste any time proving that, tweeting at four-star wide out Evan Bailey who was committed to Texas until just a couple of days ago. He was committed to the Longhorns for just over a month.

Stewart had a top eight with Oregon in the mix before he committed to Texas and Bailey is trying to make sure the Ducks are still heavily involved in the top-50 receiver from Frisco, Texas. He’s ranked the No. 40 overall recruit in the 2022 class and fifth-best receiver, according to the composite.

If Stewart were to pick the Ducks, he would become the first receiver in Oregon’s 2022 class and really give Bailey that first No. 1 target to grow with.

Look for Oregon to push hard for Stewart now that he’s back on the market and if Bailey is on the case already, you have to like the Duck’s chances. Still a long way to go here.
