Oregon football’s 2022 class could soon be picking up another big-time commitment. Four-star defensive back Trejon Williams could be next.

Oregon is now up to six commitments in its 2022 recruiting class after landing four-star quarterback Tanner Bailey a week ago.

That number could soon grow to seven.

Trejon Williams has been one of Oregon’s top targets for a couple of months now and ever since the Ducks offered him in February, they have been at the top of his list. He holds 18 offers and Oregon looks like the heavy favorite to land him.

And according to his social media pages, he’s closing in on a commitment.

Williams is a Portland, Ore., native and one of the best defensive back prospects in the country, ranked the No. 211 overall recruit and 11th-best safety, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s also the second-best recruit in the entire state of Oregon.

The Ducks have a safety already committed in their 2022 class in four-star Landon Hullaby from Texas, but the hiring of Marcel Yates away from Cal has helped their chances with Williams.

Yates was with Cal last season before Oregon hired him and the Golden Bears are actually one of the current favorites to land him as well. Penn State, USC and Washington are also in the running for Williams.

Mario Cristobal is trying to out-do his 2021 recruiting class which finished sixth in the country and the 2022 group has a long way to go. It’s ranked No. 20 in the nation and No. 2 in the Pac-12, but it’s still early and there are big names left on the board.

Landing Williams will go a long way to getting Oregon to the top of the Pac-12 recruiting rankings again.
