1. Oregon was severely under-seeded

Selection Sunday didn’t provide a ton of surprises, but what fans of teams like Oregon, Oregon State, Colorado, USC and UCLA realized was that the Pac-12 wasn’t given a ton of respect.

Colorado was a 5-seed, USC was a 6-seed, UCLA had to play in the First Four against a solid Michigan State team and the regular season champion Oregon Ducks had a 7-seed. How does that happen? Every single team is still alive after the first game on Monday with Oregon dominating No. 2 seed Iowa from the end of the first half on.

What we now know is that Oregon was severely under-seeded.

Heck, the Ducks had 10 days off between games and still came out and looked as warmed up as anyone in the tournament. They had their first-round game against VCU cancelled because of a COVID-19 outbreak with the Rams and still came out firing against Iowa.

How does a 20-6 record and conference title equal a 7-seed? It just doesn’t make a ton of sense and you can bet Iowa fans are saying the same thing.

Oregon was under-seeded and it’s showing it emphatically. Now they’ll prepare for a Final Four run and this team honestly has a special feel to it.
