Oregon football has been known for its electric offense over the years and ESPN believes that will continue, ranking the Ducks 13th in “future offense”.
As spring ball kicks off, Oregon looks like the favorite to win the Pac-12 this season with depth at just about every position and the only real question mark coming at quarterback.
But there’s a solid battle brewing between Anthony Brown and Ty Thompson. Jay Butterfield seems like he’s on the outside looking in, but you never really know in a wide-open quarterback battle with three capable potential starters.
Two of those options at quarterback are underclassmen and could be 3-4 year starters for the Ducks which would be best for the future of the offense.
Oregon is young at almost every position, especially when it comes to the depth, and ESPN has taken notice, listing the Ducks No. 13 in the country in terms of “future offense” power rankings.
They based their rankings on current rosters, recruiting, departures, non-senior depth and trajectory of offensive units.
Not bad for the Ducks.
Oregon is the second-highest ranked Pac-12 team behind USC (which I would debate heavily) and it makes sense that the optimism surrounding the Ducks’ offense is high nationally. They have a talented young quarterback coming in with a couple of top-100 receivers, a top-200 running back and the roster already has talented guys like Mycah Pittman, Devon Williams, Josh Delgado, Kris Hutson, CJ Verdell and Travis Dye who all have at least one more year of eligibility.
With the offensive line reloading and the skill positions getting bolstered by the No. 6 recruiting class in 2021, the Ducks’ future on offense is bright.
Heck, No. 13 seems almost too low.
